Happy Halloween from Boyle's Beauties

Yesterday was a very busy day for Boyle's Beauties!  We ran our cafe in the morning and then the students and staff changed into their Halloween costume's and participated  in the annual Holy Childhood SPOOKTACULAR.  Our first stop during the SPOOKTACULAR was in Mrs. O's room where she was dressed up as a mummy and had boxes filled with fun, frightful Halloween gooeyness.  The students had to reach into the boxes to find a picture/Halloween word, but before they could get to the pictures they had to maneuver their hands through the slimey glop in each box.  There was a box of worms (spaghetti), teeth (candy corn), eyeballs (peeled grapes), guts (red jello), and brains (crushed tomatoes).  It was so cool!  Thanks, Mrs. O!  Boyle's Beauties also watched a film made by our very own video club and visited the ACHIEVES haunted house.  They ended their afternoon with an awesome BINGO game in Mrs. Moore's room.  Mrs. Moore read them There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Bat.  As she read the story the student's had to find the pictures/words that she read on their BINGO board.  Everyone won BINGO!  It was a very busy, but extremely fun and exciting day for all!

Ready to work!

Digging through the "brains"!

Sunrise Cafe

It has been a very busy start to the school year for Boyle's Beauties!  Our class has the honor and privilege of starting up and running the new school cafe. The students have helped develop everything from the name of the cafe, items to sell, prices, shopping, and prep work. The jobs that the students perform during our cafe hours are greeting the customers, taking the customer's order, giving the customers their baked goods and coffee, and cashing the customers out.  Each student has a chance to try at least two different jobs so far and they all seem to really enjoy it all. The students are given a chance to reflect on their duties for the cafe at the end of each job.  They have reflection worksheets that ask them what they liked, did not like, and why. The staff is always expressing the importance of recognizing what they like and do not like to prepare for their future working in the community.  We are planning to purchase t-shirts and new uniforms with our logo on it with the profit from the cafe. October 17 was our grand opening of the Sunrise Cafe and it was a huge success! It has been a very exciting time for Boyle's Beauties!  The Sunrise Cafe is open on Monday mornings from 9am-11am.  Stop in and see us!
